The Electric Orkney project is partially funded by UK Government through the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme in the Department for Transport. This project involves collaboration between Artemis Technologies, Orkney Ferries and the European Marine Energy Centre. This involves the demonstration of two 100% electric passenger vessels over the next 3 years in Orkney. The aim of the Electric Orkney project is to operate zero emission passenger services to accelerate the decarbonisation of maritime transport.
